Abstract

The student’s knowledge and understanding about House Dust Mites (HDM) is still limited due to the lack of interest in finding information. Meanwhile, the alergen from mites may cause several disease which effect sexual organ, digestive, and allergic reaction. Thus, it is very important to deliver health promotion, specifically about House Dust Mites (HDM). One of the interactive media is Monopoly Game. The purpose of this study is to produce health promotion media about house dust mites (HDM) and analyze its effectiveness. The type of research is Research and Development (R&D) model of the Borg & Gall modified by Sukmadinata. Data obtained from material expert, media expert, and extensive trials (experiments) involving 30 students of Biology Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang who have taken parasitology courses. Data analysis of the results of extensive trials (experiments) using paired t-test (paired sample t-test) and data analysis of validation results in the form of qualitative data from the comments and suggestions of material expert and media expert. The results of the Mite Game Monopoly health promotion media products show that the results of the validation of media and material experts are categorized very well with percentages of 97% and 89%, respectively. The results of data analysis obtained a value of P ˂ 0.05, which means there is a significant difference in the average value of the pretest and posttest and shows an increase in knowledge and understanding of TDR between before and after using the Mite Game Monopoly media.
