Abstract

One cause of global warming (global warming) is the increased content of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by human activities through the process of respiration and motor vehicles. One area that is known to have an increased population and the number of motorized vehicles is Batu City. Forest is one of the important components that can help the process of absorption of carbon content (C) in the atmosphere. The purpose of this study was to analyze the CO2 absorption of various plants in the Protected Forests of Banyak Mountain in terms of biomass content, carbon content, and carbon content of understorey and litter. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The method used is the Non-Destructive Sampling method. The results showed that the amount of CO2 absorption of plants amounted to 6.714x10-2 tons/ha, in plants below 8.936x10-6 tons/ha, and the litter of 4.583x10-6 tons/ha with biomass content amounted to 3.662x10-2, content 4.78x102 carbon, plant carbon content below 6.111x10-6, and litter carbon content 2.555x10-6. The amount of CO2 absorption is influenced by the amount of biomass content and carbon content as well as the level of plant density. The highest relative density value is found in Pinus merkusii Jungh. & de Vriese. A large amount of vegetation helps the optimal absorption of CO2 at the study site, especially by P. Merkusi Jungh & de Vriese.
