Abstract

The use of botanical insecticide is an effective way to control Crocidolomia binotalis Z. on cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.). Based on the content of active compounds and their potentials ginger, turmeric and galangal rhizomes are used against plant pest as an insecticide. The effectiveness of use of these plants combination as an insecticide is very important for farmers, teachers, students, and researchers as initial information and learning resources. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various concentrations of the botanical insecticide combination of ginger, turmeric, galangal on the mortality of Crocidolomia binotalis Z. which was utilized as a learning source. This research was True Experimental Research, in which the design used was Posttest-Only Control Design and non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The concentrations of botanical insecticides used were 15%, 30%, 45%, 60% and 75%. The data analysis techniques employed in the study were one-way ANOVA and Duncan's continued test. The research was conducted from May to June 2019 at the Biology Laboratory of UMM. The results showed that the total mortality at a concentration of 15% was 17 individuals, a concentration of 30% was 26 individuals, 45% was 31 individuals, 60% was 35 individuals, and a concentration of 75% was 40 individuals. Based on the calculation done there were significant differences between the treatments given with the most effective treatment was A5 with the concentration of 75% in which the total mortality were obtained 10 individuals (Fhit < Ftab; 179,938 < 2,77). The results of this study can be used as a study of biological learning resources in KD 4.8 grade VII even semester.
