Abstract

Based on observation and interview at SDN 02 Giripurno Batu V grade in mathematics learning, the teacher has not maximized the use of learning media and lack of reasoning power in working on storytelling question. Paying attention on the use of less-optimal learning media for learners, the development of learning media is necessary to motivate learner who consider mathematics learning is less interesting especially scale comparison material, so that learning is packed with fun and critical thingking in solving problems. this research is aimed to develop MERATA (calculate in real terms) media on scale comparison material in V grade of Elementary School. The type of research used is development research with qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. Qualitative data analysis was obtained through observation, interview and documentation activities, while quantitative data analysis was obtained through filling in teacher response questionnaires and student responses. The selected data source is class grade V students and their homeroom teacher at SD 02 Giripurno Batu. This research was conducted in the even semester of Academic Year 2018/2019 on June, 2019. The MERATA learning media is developed using five stages of ADDIE development model, they are Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The results of the validation carried out in this research and development were obtained from media experts and material experts. Media validation produced a validity level of 86,7% and the validation of material experts with 86%. The results showed that MERATA media developed well as indicated with a score of 93.2% by students and 90% by class teachers. therefore, MERATA learning media is developed on scale comparison material using attractive visuals so that learners learn with fun, creation, and critical thinking with the grup.
