Abstract

The background of this current research is the utilization of digital literacy on thematic learning at the SDN Tanjungsekar 1 Malang city. The research aims to: (1) describe the school's efforts in facilitating digital literacy at SDN Tunjungsekar 1 Malang city, (2) describe the use of digital literacy on the thematic learning of students class V at SDN Tunjungsekar 1 Malang city. This current research uses a descriptive qualitative research with a descriptive method. The research instruments or data collection tools that used are observation sheets, interview guidelines and documentation guidelines. The research procedure on this research includes several stages such as the preparation/planning, implementation, research findings and the reporting stages. The data analysis is done by reducing, presenting and concluding the data. The current research was conducted on 22 February-11 April 2019. The results showed that: (1) the school's efforts to facilitate digital literacy on thematic learning of the students class V at SDN Tunjungsekar 1 Malang city, is conducted in several ways such as, providing training to the 'principals, teachers, staffs, and students' about digital literacy, providing an understanding of digital literacy, presenting the schools’ information with digital media, making the school policies on the use of digital media, using and utilizing the information and communication technology in terms of school services, provision of Internet networks and computers in schools. (2) The utilization of digital literacy in thematic learning is divided into two aspects such as the utilization of digital literacy by the teacher and the utilization of literacy by the students.
