Abstract

Indonesian society uses a lot of premium and pertalite fuels because at a cheap price but has a relatively low octane value, the octane value at premium is 88 and the octane value at pertalite is 90. By mixing camphor it can increase the octane value of the material premium fuel and pertalite because in camphor there is naftaline content that can increase the octane value of the fuel, Oktis-2 is a tool used to see the octane value of a type of fuel. This study aims to determine the increase in octane values in premium fuels and pertalite. In this study used a variation of camphor 5% by weight of camphor × 1 liter of fuel, 10% by weight of camphor × 1 liter of fuel, 15% by weight of camphor × 1 liter of fuel, 20% by weight of camphor × 1 liter of material burn and 25% by weight of camphor × 1 liter of fuel. This study aims to determine the increase or decrease in octane value of premium fuel and pertalite fuel after the mixing process with camphor. From this study it was found that there was an increase in octane value if the 25% camphor mixture was mixed with pertalite and premium fuels which at first the octane value of premium fuel was 88 to 90 and the octane value of pertalite fuel was 90 to 94, and the results from camphor mixture 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% in fixed fuels, namely premium with octane 88 and pertalite with octane 90.
