Abstract

Madura has variety and unique of cultures that are influenced by geographical conditions. Madura is formed by nautical life with challenges so that it can merge braveness and holding their prestige and esteem. Therefore, behavior by conflict and violence is held and regarded as unique of ethnical community of Madura. Nevertheless, conflict is not always to be the proof that the correlation is not healthy because it is depended on handling strategy of conflict used. Madura society in young age is in transition and broad knowledge. Based on the problems above, then the purpose of this study is to know the cause factor of the conflict and handling strategy in Madura students. This study is descriptive quantitative study by data collection method is opened questionnaire. Subject in this study is 51 students of UMM that they are from Madura. Data analysis method that is used in this study is analyzed quantitatively by percentage statistical test. In this study, it can be obtained the data that the cause factor of conflict is because the differences of needs, values, and goals. While, the conflict strategy that it is the most suitable oneis confronting and then force; it is correlated to the tradition of Madura, bug­rembug (This tradition is for having discussion at first). In one side, if their esteem is being underestimated (malo) by other people, then they tend to force.
