Abstract

Parasite is a plant that has a size like shrubs which grows attached to the trunk (branches) of trees. The spread of parasites through fruit-eating birds cannot be digested fruit and then out with bird droppings. The results of the sticky fruit excretion will stick to the branches of the tree, furthermore it will germinate and young parasites begin to grow. The threat of parasites also occurs in teak plants in Clonal Seed Orchard KBK which becomes the causes of productivity reduction of harvested seeds. This study aimed to determine the optimal effort of controlling parasite based on mechanical and chemical control in suppressing the growth of parasite in KBK Padangan. This study was conducted in February - May 2019 in the clonal seed garden (KBK) Padangan, Research and Development Center (PUSLITBANG) Perum Perhutani - Cepu. This study used a randomized group design (RAK) with two factors that arranged factorially. The first factor was the parasite control (K) consisted of five levels including control, cutting teak branches, cutting the parasite root, spraying the parasite leaves with a solution of paraquat dichloride. In addition, the second factor was the location of the stands (M) which comprises of two levels containing stands of planting in 1994 and stands of planting in 1995. The best combination treatment in suppressing parasite growth was found in the combination of treatments K1M1, K1M2, K2M1 and K2M2 because they could suppress parasite growth up to 0 point of parasite attack.
