Abstract

Background: Parent’s or mother’s self-confidence in caring for children is very important for the child's growth in terms of the child's psychological, children's social skills, children's independence, and difficult eating behavior in children. Self-confidence / Self-efficacy is an important factor that will determine a person's behavior in health promotion. Self efficacy has also been identified as an important predictor in promoting healthy lifestyles, where self-confidence can have a high influence on health promotion behavior. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between parents 'beliefs: parents' self-confidence in doing health promotion in managing children having difficulty eating. Method: This study used descriptive analytical research method with Cross Sectional approach. The population in this study were parents with difficult-to-eat children aged 0 to 5 years at Singosari, Ardimulyo, and Karangploso Public Health Centers Malang Regency with a total of 245 respondents, taken using Accidental Sampling. Data collection using a questionnaire and tested using Spearman Rank. Results: There were 122 (49.8%) respondents who had enough self-confidence and health promotion behavior. The results of hypothesis testing with Spearman rank correlation obtained r count value of 0.400 and p-value of 0,000. This shows a strong relationship or positive correlation between parents 'beliefs: parents' confidence in health promotion behavior.
