Abstract

The high production of processed seaweed surely be offset by the amount of factory waste produced. Waste’s production were not accompanied with waste management activities in the long run wil potentially cause problems. Therefore the manage waste is very important to reduce that waste pile. Making the waste be a mixture of planting media and plant nutrients such as fertilizer is one solution. The purpose of this research is to examine the opportunities or potential of the solid wastes of seaweed processing that has not been utilized as a mixture of planting media and nutrients for plants as well as to analyze the effect of giving the waste and goat manure fertilizer as a comparison to the growth and yield of caisim mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.). The research was started on February 4, 2019 until May 3, 2019 which was located in the backyard of the the researcher's house and Agrotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The stages of this research are the tools and materials preparation, research sites preparation, seeding, maintenance and care of seedlings, planting media preparation, transplanting, maintenance and care of plants, harvesting and analysis of mineral content in the planting media in Laboratory. This research used RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with 10 treatment levels, each treatment was repeated 4 times. Data were analyzed in the form of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further testing of BNJ at 95% confidence level. (P <0.05). The results showed that various types of formulations of planting media of the solid wastes of seaweed processing, goat manure fertilizer and soil provide highly significant effect on the growth of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, total, canopy and roots fresh weight of plants and total, canopy and roots dry weight of caisim mustard plant. Additional use of goat manure fertilizer in solid wastes of seaweed processing and soil is able to increase plant growth. Application of goat manure fertilizer 30% and 40% gives the best effect on the growth of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, total, canopy and roots fresh weight of plants, total, canopy and roots dry weight of caisim mustard plants.
