Abstract

Signaled intersections in S.P. Sudarmo St. – Panji Suroso St. – Laksda Adi Sucipto St. of Malang City have a high traffic volume since it locates in commercial area. These intersections are commonly passed by many cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles because it becomes one gate system to Malang City. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance signaled intersections condition and to provide solution to the problem. A survey was conducted in the peak hours of traffic jam. The study applies Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual 1997. The evaluation of signaled intersection performance in S.P. Sudarmo St. – Panji Suroso St. – Laksda Adi Sucipto St. showed that saturation degree (DS) is closely in the southern approach of 0.87. This value actually exceeds the standard limit of DS ≤ 0.85 with the capacity 1185.47 PCU (Passenger Car Unit)/hour, queue length (QL) 162.06 m, average stopping pitch 0.60 stop/hour, delay 56.78 det/pcu, and service level index of category E. The results of the calculation showed that saturation degree 0.65, capacity 1598.75 pcu/hour, queue length (QL) 104.47 m, average stopping pitch 0.52 stop/hour, delay 41.78 det/pcu, and service level index of category E.
