Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is one of the plantation commodities that plays an important role in the national economy. Cocoa production varies greatly between regions and provinces. Cocoa production according to concession status (smallholder, state, and private plantations) in 1967 - 2017 in 2015 cocoa production in Sumatra reached 149,907 tons / ha, in Java it reached 32,381 tons / ha, in Nusa Tenggara it reached 18,559 tons / ha, in Kalimantan reaching 7,958 tons / ha, in Sulawesi reaching 355,216 tons / ha, in Maluku and Papua reaching 29,310 tons / ha (Ditjenbun, 2016). Each region generally has a different level of productivity. Productivity of some of these areas is still below the potential of cocoa production which can reach 2 tons of dry beans / ha / year. The low production of cocoa is influenced by the attacks of cocoa fruit borer (PBK) and cacao fruit rot caused by P. palmivora (Rubiyo and Siswanto, 2012).The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition percentage of Trichoderma sp. against the attack of pathogens Phytophthora palmivora causes cocoa fruit rot. This research was conducted in December 2018 - March 2019 at the Microbiology Laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang and the Biomedical Laboratory of the medical faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The experiment was conducted using factorial Randomized Complete Design (CRD), where factor 1 was Trichoderma sp. and factor 2 is Phytophthora palmivora. Observation variables are the growth fingers of Phytophthora palmivora control (R1) and the growth fingers of Phytophthora palmivora with Trichoderma sp. (R2).The results showed the percentage inhibition of Trichoderma sp. the highest Phytophthora palmivora is T1P1 75.39%, T4P4 75.00%, T2P2 74.81%, and T3P3 73.50%. From the four exploration areas obtained Trichoderma Koningii type with the characteristics of round and dark green colonies having branched and erect conidiophores, taper and conidia shaped falid oval and green.
