This study generally aimed to examine and to found out genetics aspect supporting the efforts to gain potential cultivar, therefore the direction of character improvement can be done effectively and efficiently. The objective of this study specifically is to investigate: a) special characters of tin fruit, b) investigating correlation between observed characters, and c) investigating direct and indirect contribution toward yield character. This study is conducted at Fig Garden Surabaya in May until July 2009. This study didn’t use any particular method, but it use treatment for 6 (six) cultivars of tin fruit that is: Brown turkey, Black ischia, Adriatics, Green jordan, Syrian, and Flanders which is replicated twice (2 times). Observation parameters include future fruit site, ostiole size, ostiole opening, fruit margin, transparency of fruit flesh, color of fruit flesh, length of fruit stalk, width of fruit stalk, shape of fruit stalk, fruit neck, color of mature fruit, color of young fruit, shape of young fruit, shape of mature fruit, basic shape of fruit, fruit type, color of fruit stalk, bud site, leaf edge, length of leaf stalk, shape of leaf stalk, rugged of leaf stalk, size of leaf stalk, color of young leaf, color of old leaf, color of the underside leaf, shape of leaf base point, shape of leaf tip, color of stalk, rugged of stalk, shine of stalk, plant height, stalk diameter, leaf size, amount of leaf, amount of fruit. Based on the result of the observation, author concluded (1) Special characteristics of tin fruit compose of bud site, future fruit site and shape of fruit neck (2) Direct effect rating is positively real (p>0,01) toward the amount of fruit were plants height character (PTT = 0,684), leaf size (PLs-D = 0,636), amount of leaf (PJD = 0,347) and stalk diameter (PDB = 0,066); (3) The high and positive correlation of plant height is indirectly affected by leaf size character (r = 0,138) and amount of leaf (r = 0,393), while for leaf size is indirectly affected by plants height (r = 0,138) and stalk diameter (r = 0,314).
