Abstract

This study aims to determine the classification of each Regency / City in East Java Province based on the klassen typology, analyze the magnitude of development inequality and determine the effect of economic growth on the index of development inequality between regencies / cities in East Java Province in 2012-2016. This study uses analytical tools, namely typology classics, Williamson index, and simple linear regression. The results of the analysis show that the determination of the typology of clusters shows that classification 1: Fast and developed regions consist of 9 regions. Classification 2: Rapidly developing regions consist of 8 regions. Classification 3: Relatively lagging regions consist of 20 regions. And classification 4: Advanced but depressed areas consist of 1 area. The Williamson index number shows the value of inequality with the highest average score (uneven) achieved by Mojokerto City with a value of 6.2823% and Surabaya City showing the lowest development inequality (evenly distributed) with a value of 0.0470%. And the results of simple linear regression show that the effect of economic growth on development disparity has a significantly smaller coefficient of 0.234626, so that it shows negative and significant results.
