Abstract

The observation data showed that students learning outcomes of fractional material in mathematics subject in SDI Restu Ibu Malang are deficient. This problem triggered by the teacher who practically using Teacher Center Learning (TCL) and less variation. This case has an impact to the students which the learning outcome is still low. So there needs an effort to improve learning outcomes through the use of the Make a match learning model by Gagne’s theory. This study aims to describe the application of the Make a match learning model by Gagne’s theory to improve mathematics learning outcomes in fractional material of fourth grade students in SDI Restu Malang. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in 2 cycles through the planning phase, the implementation phase and the reflection phase. This research was implemented at SDI Restu Ibu Malang. The subjects of this study were 24 fourth grade students. Data collection techniques using interview guides, observation sheets, knowledge tests and documentation. Data analysis for teacher activity sheets and student activity sheets was using percentages. While the learning outcomes were analyzed using knowledge tests with completeness adjusted to minimum criteria of mastery learning in schools which is 70, and assessment of students' attitudes and skills during learning. The implementation of learning has been implemented which accordance with the steps in the application of the Make a match model with the Gagne’s theory and done well in cycle I and cycle II. The percentage of student learning activities with good categories, the first cycle reached 46%, and the second cycle reached 92%. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Make a match model with the Gagne’s theory can improve student learning outcomes in mathematics.
