Abstract

Background : doing a work, a person or group of workers are at risk of getting an accident or illness due to work. Diseases arising from work condition and term of work. Work activities that cause musculoskeletal disorders include suboccipital muscle pain is a forward head posture position when using a smartphone . Forward head posture is the postural psition of the body, where the head is in front of the shoulder . Objective : To determine correlation between long term and position forward head position when using smartphone to suboccipital muscle pain Research Methods : The design of this study was cross sectional. A total of 81 samples were taken using the purposive sampling method. The term of work measurement of smartphone usage isobtained by the term of work measurement scale by Syamsoedin et al , (2015) and the measurement of forward head posture position was measured using the Forward Head Posture application software whereas to measure muscle pain suboccipita l using a scale of Nordic Body Map (NBM). Results: Research with spearmen test obtained p value = 0.027 and p = 0.032 smaller than the significance value of 0.05. Conclusion : There is a correlation between long term and position forward head posture position when using a smartphone against suboccipital muscle pain in UMM FIKES students Keywords : Duration, Forward Head Posture, suboccipital muscle pain , students
