This research aimed to: (1) describe the development of SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) learning media for practicing the beginner reading skill for first-grade class under “The Morning Activities” sub-theme, (2) learn students’ responses to SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) learning media to train the beginner reading skill of first-grade students under “The Morning Activities” sub-theme. The researcher used the ADDIE development model which consisted of five stages, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This research was conducted at Candirenggo 4 Elementary School, which totaled 31 students. The research was organized on May 2019. The data collection technique employed observations, interviews, questionnaires and documents. Data analysis techniques utilized qualitative descriptive data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that: (1) after the researcher carried out the development of SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) teaching media through the validation of media experts, material experts, and learning practitioners, the results were feasible to be tested in the field without revision. This is indicated by the percentage of media experts earning 87%. The percentage of material experts is 87.5%. The percentage of learning practitioners is 100%. (2) the use of SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) learning media got a very good response to users with the results of the students’ response questionnaires percentage of 98% at Candirenggo 4 Elementary School. The results of SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) teaching media development research are suggested to be used as teacher references to improve learning and reference in the teaching and learning process. SINTAR (Simpan Tarik) teaching media is expected to support the success of teaching and learning process in elementary schools.
