Abstract

Recently, there are a lot of acceleration programs conducts in superior schools. This programs is acceleration programs, especially for talented students by some tests as selection and fulfilling given procedural requirements.This requirements are: having high intelligence (IQ>130), high creativity, also high motivation and work commitment. In this program, education tenure is shorter than other students in regular class according to curriculum that established. This program certaintly compelling the students to study harder than other students in regular class. Students in this acceleration program potentially experience high stress, saturation in confront a lot of assignments and problem of social interaction with other people. This case can influence their lerning achievement that at final they cannot reach learning achievement that equal with their intelligence capability. To fullfil the requirements, students not only should have academic skill but also have good emotional intelligence. The purpose of this study is to know how is the relation of emotional intelligence with learning achievement of acceleration student in senior high school. This study in conducted in three senior high scool in Malang, MAN 1 Malang, MAN 3 Malang, and SMAN 5 Malang. The data obtained from 42 students studied. Technique to analyze the data is using product moment. Instrument that is used in this study is scale of emotional intelligence and mean of newest school grades raport. The result of the study shows that there is any influence, significantly, between emotional intelligence toward learning achievement of acceleration students in senior high school, (r = 0,745). Emotional intelligence has effective contribution toward learning achievement of senior high school 55,2%. Whereas the rest, influenced by other factors like creativity level especially at elaboration capability, learning motivation, and self adaptation. Based on the data analysis, it is suggested that whether teacher or acceleration student should increase their learning achievement by emphasizing, directing, giving explanation about emotional intelligence to acceleration students
