Abstract

Coconut trees are often dubbed the "Tree of Heaven" because of each part of the plant can be used to meet some of the daily needs of human life. Santan is a thick white liquid produced from coconut meat that is grated and then squeezed. There are still many people who use traditional methods by squeezing directly grated coconut using their hands to produce coconut milk. But this method is considered inefficient because it takes a long time, requires a lot of energy, and a lot of juice from coconut fruit is wasted because the squeeze process is not optimal, and in terms of cleanliness it is felt that it does not meet health standards. The need for coconut milk production from grated coconut with the level of efficiency and effectiveness of the process and high yields in a production process, especially in mass production is very important, because it can save time so that the production costs incurred can be reduced as small as possible. The purpose of designing this tool is to create a coconut milk producing machine with the maximum yield of 100 kg / hour. From the results of the experiments that have been carried out, as well as the design stage of the screw press grated coconut squeezer machine test results have been obtained covering machine capacity of 100 kg / hour, can produce 67,500 grams of coconut milk with the main material in processing is stainless steals. For Rpm, the coconut milk squeezer is 139 Rpm, while 1 pitch in the screw squeeze is 0.44 seconds. The efficiency of squeezing on the squeezer machine is mentioned in the percentage that is equal to 65.217%. While for the yield or depreciation number expressed in percentage, that is equal to 32.133%
