Abstract
Literary describes life in a society and literary gave certain meaning to readers. Novel as one of literary works came from author who is a part of society. Orang-Orang Proyek (Project People) Novel by Ahmad Tohari described human life told by describing Javanese social background. In Javanese people’s life, there is a life attitude used to fortify their own selves to create a harmonic condition between relations with God as creator, their own-self, and people. The research purposes were to find out how: (1) Javanese people life-attitude in religious meaning consisted of eling (aware), pracaya (belief), and mituhu (grateful); (2) Javanese people life-attitude in society consisted of rila (willing), nrima (accepting), and sabar (patience) also (3) Javanese people life-attitude in society consisted of ethok-ethok (pretending), wedi (afraid), isin (shame), and sungkan (reluctant) The research was qualitative research with descriptive approach. Data resulted was words in quote. Data found from text explanation in Orang-Orang Proyek Novel described about attitude owed by Javanese people in dialogue, monologue, and narration. Result found from the research was description of Javanese people life attitude in religious life which described beliefs in God. Javanese people life attitude with their own selves aimed to form good personality and moral. Description of Javanese people life in society used to keep harmony and respecting each other. According to result found about Javanese people life attitude in Orang-orang Proyek Novel by Ahmad Tohari which was discussed by literary sociology approach, there were some matters suggested to some parties: (a) for the next researcher, there suggested to do research using different approach; (b) for the readers, there hoped that it could be used as tool to dig deeper meaning in literary which could be used as reference to think about the meaning of life
