Abstract

Introduction: Optimal child development occurs in early childhood. Children aged 4-6 years, shows interest in numbers, letters, reading, and writing. To improve effective education, a good learning tool is needed. Lego is a learning media that can enhance children's creativity, also can improve and develop cognitive basic abilities in the field of mathematics, i.e the introduction of the concept of numbers, symbols of numbers, and much more. Method: Pre Experiment method using The Pre Test - Post Test Control Group Design. The research was conducted in 6 kindergarten meetings in Tunas Bangsa Malang by introducing symbol of numbers. The 28 kindergarten students was divided into two groups, that was the control group and the treatment group. Samples were tested by pre-test and post-test using Number Recognition Scoresheet. Data analysis using unpaired T-test. Result & Discussion: The results of the unpaired T – test showed significant differences in cognitive development between groups with p = 0.000 (p <0.05). It means that treatment group has significant cognitive improvement compare to conrol. This result could because by children's concentration improving so that their working memory can function properly. Conclusion: There is a correlation between Lego games on cognitive development in children of TK A Tunas Bangsa Malang.
