Abstract

Background: The students required to memorizing Al-quran almost 6- 8 hours everyday with static position which increasing the risk of myofascial pain syndrome upper trapezius to occur. Static position with long time causes myofascial Pain syndrome Upper Trapezius resulting in decreased ROM neck. Post Isometric relaxation is an intervention that can be given to improve the neck ROM. Purpose: To find out the effect of post isometric relaxation on the case of myofascial pain syndrome upper trapezius on increasing ROM neck in Ar-Rohmah Malang. Research Method: This study used pre-experimental method with one group pretest-posttest. Retrieval of respondents using purposive sampling. The study was conducted 2 weeks every week for 3 interventions, the study began February 5 to February 17, 2019 respondents were Ar-Rohmah tahfidz Malang students who experienced myofascial pain syndrome upper trapezius totaling 26 students. The research instrument used a goniometer and was tested using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Based on the hypothesis test obtained a significant value of 0.033 where p <0.05 can be concluded indicating H1 is accepted. The results showed an increase in the average ROM neck from 2, 23 to 2, 54. Conclusion: There is an influence of post isometric relaxation in the case of myofascial pain syndrome upper trapezius to increase ROM neck.
