Abstract

Background: Increasing antibiotic resistance in humans. Leaves of Rhoeo discolor and fruit skin of Actinidia deliciosa has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria with metabolite compounds alkaloids and flavonoids. Objective: The study was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of extract combination of Rhoeo discolor leaves and Actinidia deliciosa skin fruit against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria in terms of the diameter of the inhibition zone. Method: The study was carried out using the disc diffusion method, in this method divided into 2 groups including the test group using a combination solution of ERDL and EADSF which was then divided into three different concentrations, and the control group. Test group of Escherichia coli bacteria concentration 1 (EKBAD 25 µg : EDRD 40 µg); concentration 2(EKBAD 50 µg : EDRD 40 µg); concentration (EKBAD 50 µg : EDRD 20 µg), while in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria concentration 1 (EKBAD 10 µg : EDRD 3,6 µg); concentration 2 (EKBAD 20 µg : EDRD 3,6 µg); concentration 3 (EKBAD 20 µg : EDRD 1,8 µg). The control group consisted of positive controls (chloramphenicol) and negative controls (10% DMSO). Result and Conclusion: Antibacterial test results obtained from a combination of EADSF and ERDL against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria are characterized by a clear area around the disk.. In the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria the average inhibition zone diameter obtained at concentrations of 1, 2 and 3 of 3.63 ± 14.5 mm; 15.33 ± 3.82 mm 13.5 ± 3.5 mm. However, in Escherichia coli bacteria there is no clear area around the disc. If it is drawn a conclusion on the results of this test, then a combination of EADSF and EDRDL only has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.
