Abstract

From time to time the issue of sexuality is indeed never run out for debate. Especially with the rise of cases about sexuality. Sexuality, in the past, was taboo to be discussed or opened in public. Lesbians have shown their identities and tried to interact with the community by forming lesbian communities in the city of Malang, there are several communities in regional area such as, Blimbing, Soekarno Hatta, Sawojajar, and Sukun . Lesbians in Malang have their own way of showing behavior to the community, which is tell that they're lesbians. The focus in this study is aimed at how the behavior of lesbians in Malang. The behavior of lesbians is the interaction between individuals involving symbols, verbal and nonverbal. Theory for analyze the research is using Symbolic Interactionism Theory. The research method of this study uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research subjects are lesbians in the city of Malang, divided into four places, Blimbing, Sukarno Hatta, Sawojajar and Sukun. Data sources use primary data, facts, phenomenology in the field, as well as information from lesbian research subjects and secondary data sources that strengthen research results. Data analysis techniques use data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions . The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the communication behavior of lesbians in Malang can be seen from verbal and non verbal symbols. In the verbal symbols it can be seen in language, whereas for non-verbal symbols can be seen in many aspects such as how to dress, style or fashion, gestures and physical characteristics.
