Abstract

Difficulty in communicating or delivering statement or answers towards the mathematics problems in the form of writing is still going on. Module as an independent learning material and the language that more communicative is expected to be able to overcome those problems. Therefore, this research aimed at developing the “JATRABEL” module to train the students’ written mathematical communication. This development research referred to the development model of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The result of this development was in the form of “JATRABEL” module, in which the material presentation was based on the indicators of written mathematical communication that used in this research. The material presentation of this module was intentionally made with the empty parts and it should be filled by the students. This research used observation, validation test of module and material, module trial, students’ response questionnaire distribution along with the interview as the data collection techniques. The “JATRABEL” module had been validated by the experts and also had been trialed to 10 students of 7th grade. The validation result showed that the “JATRABEL” module was very valid and very proper to be used. The result of students’ response questionnaire indicated that the students’ responses were good toward the module that had been developed and also the “JATRABEL” module wad effective. Departing from the questionnaire as well, the indicators of students’ written mathematical communication had been met in 58,125%.
