Abstract

The aim of learning mathematics is to provide understanding to students in order to be able to solve problems, one of the ways is through story problems. Mathematical story questions can train students to think contextually and know the uses of mathematics in daily life. High-Level thinking skills cover three aspects, namely analyzing, evaluating and creating. This study was carried out to describe the high-level thinking skills of junior high school students in solving mathematical story problems with two-variable linear equation systems. The type of research used was descriptive with a qualitative approach which was carried out in SMP Negeri 5 Malang. The research subjects were four students. Data were collection by using tests and interviews. The results of the study showed that students with high-level thinking skills with high mathematical abilities were able to solve the problems of analyzing, evaluating and creating with little error. Students with high-level thinking skills with middle mathematical skills are able to solve the problems of analyzing and creating with a little error, but had not been able to solve the problem of evaluating
