Abstract

Background : Nephrolithiasis or kidney stones is a buildup of minerals in the kidney and pelvic calculi that are found to be free or attached to the kidney papillae. There are some weaknesses from the medical actions above, so that alternatives can be used, namely the use of traditional medicine. Nampu is one of the medicinal plants of familia arecaceae originating from China. Based on the research that has been done, it can be efficacious as the maintenance of kidneys and liver, strengthening muscles and bones, relieving rheumatoid arthritis, curing pain and swelling due to traumatic injuries, antihistamines, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. The turbidity method is a method for measuring the turbidity of a solution caused by chemical deposits, clay and microorganisms that can be detected with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. IC50 value is a value that indicates 50% inhibition of calcium oxalate formation. Objective : To Know the activity ethanol extracts of Nampu (Homalomena occulta) on formation inhibition of calcium oxalate crystal in kidney stone by turbidity method. Method : Measure level turbidity of calcium oxalate by turbidity methode using spectrophotometer UV-Vis Results and Conclusions : The calcium oxalate solution is read at a maximum wavelength of 620 nm. Ethanol extract of the rhizome has IC50 7053.89 ppm and Cystone® tablet has IC50 value of 705.22 ppm.
