Abstract

Preparations is very important in supporting the learning process especially on the material tissue. The preparation manufacture need coloring to clarify or refine a variety of tissue, especially on the part of the cells. The use of synthetic dyes safranin for coloring the tissue proved less effective because dyes of safranin is expensive and also difficult to obtain. Morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea (L.) Roth) can be one of alternative natural color for coloring preparations section cayenne stem (Capsicum frutescens L.) because it contain anthocyanin compounds. The purpose of this research is to know the quality of the preparations section cayenne stem (Capsicum frutescens L.) using natural color extract of morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea (L.) Roth) flowers. The type of this research is descripstive qualitative. The concentrations used are 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% for three times and using safranin dye. Data analysis techniques using qualitative and descriptive analysis of the way the percentage for the data obtained in the form of descriptive. The data in the form of a percentage level of clarity color contrasts and the level of preparations. The results showed that the extract of morning glory flower (Ipomoea purpurea (L.) Roth) are dermal tissue coloring, pith, cortex and the carrier file on the stem of the cayenne stem (Capsicum frutescens L.) each of these preparations with different concentration gives different results because there is a presence of difference absorption on any network, so that the result contrasts are also different. The results of this research in the form of media preparations can be used as one of SMA biology learning resources grade XI concerning the Material Tissue.
