Abstract

Stroke is a neurological emergency that occurs due to disruption of sudden cerebral blood flow which results in the death of brain nerve cells resulting in motor and sensory dysfunction which results in the occurrence of disability or death. ROM (Range of Motion) exercise is a form of exercise in the rehabilitation process that is considered to be very effective in preventing disability in patients with stroke. Scientific Writing aims to get an overview of the role of the family in the provision of ROM (Range of Motion) therapy to improve the range of motion in stroke patients. The design of this research is qualitative, descriptive, with purposive sampling method. Samples taken were 3 respondents, 2 client family members and 1 client at Cerme Kendalpayak village, Pakisaji. Conducted in June 2019 until July 2019. Using interviews and observations. The results of the study found three themes namely care activities carried out by the family in providing ROM therapy and the support seen from the family giving warm water soak before the ROM therapy in Tn. aids used in ROM therapy, and family motivation in administering ROM therapy. In addition, patients who are less cooperative are obstacles for families to carry out their roles. As well as the development of the patient during the administration of ROM therapy by the family which can be seen from the condition of the patient before administration of ROM therapy and the condition of the patient after administration of ROM therapy.
