Abstract

Rector of University of Indonesia Prof. Dr. Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri said that Muhammadiyah should be open to progressive-liberative ideas. Thus, Muhammadiyah would be able to restore themselves as Islamic reform movement that is conscious of the burden of history. "Do not be an exclusive-textual Islamic organization. So, no need to worry with progressive thinking of youngster of Muhammadiyah because actually it is reasonable as a reflection of intellectual euphoria," said Gumilar when delivering his paper last night (11/21) in UMM.
