Reading is very important skill in learning language. Reading becomes one of the basic skills in English which has an important role to support other basic skills. Reading is also certainly an important activity for expanding knowledge of a language. The teacher has to teach how to read well in reading. In teaching reading, the teacher has to use some strategies. By applying some of strategies in teaching reading, it is expected that the students will be interested in learning reading. The strategies included, (1) The Language Experience Approach strategy, (2) Summarizing Text strategy, and (3) Using Text Structure strategy. The teaching strategies used by the teacher got positive response and negative response. Positive response was found when the teacher applied the language experience approach (LEA) strategy in class IX-A and when the teacher applied text structure (UST) strategy in class IX-B and IX-C. It means that the students perceive positively those strategies. It makes the teacher easy to deliver the materials and also help the students to comprehend the materials.
