Abstract
This research is based on the problems found that the mathematical communication ability of students tends to be less in the sense that students are still difficult to convey what they are thinking in the form of ideas and mathematical situations related to learning mathematics. The purpose of this research is to analyze the mathematical communication ability of students both orally and writing through Quantum Learning approach. The type of this research is qualitative supported with quantitative data. The subject of this research is the students of class VII E in SMP Negeri 1 Karangploso. The instruments used are observation and test sheets. The observation sheet is used to observe students 'mathematical communication abilities both orally and writing, the tests used in the form of written test to obtain data about students' mathematical communication abilities in writing. The result of this research is the students' mathematical communication ability orally through Quantum Learning approach in good category. Students can explain mathematical ideas related to matter, convey their ideas or opinions about matter, describe an oral mathematical representation using an easily understood language of matter, conclude a representation in the form of ideas orally, and explain an idea, drawing, diagram or real objects into the terms, notations or mathematical models related to the material that has been well studied. The ability of students' mathematical communication in writing through the Quantum Learning approach is also in good category. Students can use ideas and write their thoughts related to the material, interpret the idea Mathematics in the form of images and algebra, to understand a representation for expressing and concluding mathematical concepts in writing, presenting ideas or opinions that are in the form of a summary or description of the material, writing mathematical concepts by using the terms and related mathematical notations rectangle well. The application of Quantum Learning is desirable in order to improve and examine more of the other skills / abilities that students have in each lesson.
