Abstract
Perception is how people interpreted something based on the stimulus, experiences, and also information which people get. Perception happens through processes of selecting stimulus will be transferred into brain. Perception between one people and another is different, whether they have a positive of negative perception. Moreover, English for Young Learners (EYL) program is a program conducted by English Language Education Department with student from 6th semester as the committee. The research problem of this research is how do the parents perceive on EYL program in UMM. While the objective of this research is to know how the parents perceive the EYL program. In this research, the researcher used descriptive quantitative research as the research design. The data is collected by using questionnaires. The subject of this research is the parents of EYL’s 2017 students. The respondent was asked voluntarily to fill the questionnaires, and the researcher got 30 respondents. This research found that the parents have a positive perception towards EYL program. It can be seen from the respondents’ answers. There were 42.73% respondents showed positive perception. In addition, the parents stated that they found improvement from their children, their children feel comfortable and excited with the activity. A positive perception also can be seen from their expectation of the next EYL program.
