Abstract

Departing from the phenomenon of the many natural disasters that have occurred in Indonesia in 2018, many people who need help from others and a positive image of television media companies are declining because they are considered competing to master the ratings but the shows are not of good quality. The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence the exposure of philanthropic messages to the positive image of SCTV and Indosiar. This study uses the theory of Hypodermic Needle Theory by Harold Lasswell which explains how exposure to messages is able to enter the minds of audiences and how the human brain processes and interpret messages received, and the media controls what audiences can cause behavior changes to the audience. This research is a quantitative research with associative research and survey methods. The population was 96 peoples with a purposive sampling technique so that those who met the criteria were 82 respondents consisting of 66 Employees and 16 PMI Malang Volunteers who had watched Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih, had collaborated directly with the Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation SCTV and Indosiar, and were active in PMI Malang membership, and analyzed using product moment. The study was analyzed by testing the coefficient of determination. The results of the study state that there is a moderate and positive relationship between "exposure to philanthropic messages" with "positive images" of 0.403. In addition, the results of the study also stated that there was influence of the remaining 16% 84% (100% -16%) due to other factors outside of philanthropic messages through the Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation program. It can be concluded that the effect of exposure to philanthropic messages on the positive image of SCTV and Indosiar through the Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation program was 16%.
