Abstract

Explosion loads have a large impact on damaging the structure of buildings instantly. This study analyzed the damage to the structure of reinforced concrete buildings due to the explosion through reviewing internal forces and looking for the failure of the structural elements and the improvement to the structure. The processing stages were carried out by testing 4 times the simulation with 2 different masses of explosives and different portal directions, namely W = 100 kg and W = 500 kg each of which was analyzed on the weak axis of the building and the strong axis of the building with a combination of different loads. The result performed that the biggest damage occurred in the simulation of W = 500 kg on the weak axis and the strong axis of the building. Longitudinal beam damage occurred in the load simulation towards the strong axis of the building of Mumax = 306.24 kNm which was then repaired/retrofit by installing 1 CFRP layers with t = 1.8 mm for flexural reinforcement of ØMn = 469.07 kNm. Transversal beam damage occurred in the load simulation towards the strong axis of the building of Mumax = 522.97 kNm which was then repaired/retrofit by installing 3 CFRP layers with t = 1.8 mm for flexural reinforcement of ØMn = 678.2 kNm Column damage occurred due to Mumax = 990.3 kNm which was then repaired by installing 1 CFRP layer with t = 1.8 on all four sides with the result of ØMn = 1867.22 kNm. The axial in the column has no damage because of Pumax = 2155.25 kN < ØPn = 5015.62 kN.
