Abstract

Oyster mushroom production can be determined optimally by the availability of quality F1 seeds. These seeds can be obtained from nursery media with optimal mycelium growth. Peanuts shells and sunflower seed shells can be used as an addition to mushroom seed media, because both contain cellulose which is useful for increasing the growth of mycelium. This study aims to determine the mycelium growth of F1 seeds red oyster mushroom (Pleurotus flabellatus) with the addition media of peanut shells and sunflower seed shells that is used as a source of learning biology. The type of research is a true experiment research with completely randomized design (CRD) two factorial. The first factor is the type of media used, media in the form of peanut shells and sunflower seed shells. The second factor is the concentration of media, which consists of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative analysis techniques using ANOVA test (two-way ANOVA) significant level of 5%. The results showed the fastest mycelium length growth is generated by the control treatment 0% (M1K0 and M2K0) or without the addition of peanut shells and sunflower seed shells, with an average of 10,6 cm and 9,6 cm. The mycelium length growth with the addition of peanut shells media 25% (M1K1) generate an average of 8,7 cm which is not much different from the control treatment and better than other treatments. The most optimal spread of mycelium is generated by treatment M1K1 (peanut shells media concentration of 25%), M1K2 (peanut shells media concentration of 50%), and M2K1 (sunflower seed shells media concentration of 25%), which is growing fast and tight. The results of this study can be used as a source of learning biology.
