Abstract

Based on the data of observation and interviews on 2 April 2018 that, when this student behavior is incompatible with the norms of society. Need for application of characters through a positive activity in the home environment, school and community. Activities at the school become a culture in schools and applied elsewhere. One of the schools that apply the value of the character through the culture of the school is SDN Mojolangu 2 Malang. The research aims to 1) describes the character education in the culture of the school. 2) the role of teacher in the implementation of character education through the culture of the school. 3) Describes the obstacles and solutions when application of character education through the culture of the school. The study used qualitative descriptive i.e. with collecting data through observation, interviews, documentation. Source of research data is a teacher and school principal, observation activities, and documentation used to strengthen data. The data were analyzed using data reduction. The technique of the validity of the data using the method of triangulation of the data by comparing the three sources. Qualitative data were analyzed in the form of a descriptive. The results showed: 1) rightmost character education through implementation of school culture in SDN Mojolangu 2 Malang implemented throughout the school through citizen routine, spontaneous and example. There are 18 characters in value are applied but the very prominent, religious, disipli, responsibility, care for the environment and an avid reader. 2) role of teacher on the application of character education served to educate and teach students Excel and noble character, school teachers provide guidance to students, as the example of the teacher being and doing in accordance with good values and emulated students. 3) there are several obstacles, namely student behavior that is easily affected by the environmental community, social media, TV and less supervision than older people.
