Abstract

This research aimed at developing a humanist mathematical learning device that assisted by Casio in the Vocational High School (SMK), of which device was valid, practical, and effective. According to the observation results, the material distribution was often used in the mathematics learning process and it did not conduct an exploration activity. The students learned mathematics humanely, in which it was by creating the self-understanding about the mathematics elements. Casio was a scientific calculator-shaped technology that had a function as the supplement in the humanist mathematical learning. This research used the development model of Plomp that had three stages namely initial investigation stage, development stage, and assessment stage. The initial investigation and development stages became the part of product analysis, while the assessment stage became the part of field test. The devices that developed were Lesson Plan (RPP), worksheet, and assessment instruments. The humanist mathematical learning devices that had been developed were trialed to the 10th grade students of Vocational High School, of which students consisted of 32 students. The obtained result from the product analysis was valid. The obtained results of the field test were practical and effective based on the observation results and the students’ response questionnaires. The development of a humanist mathematical learning device that assisted by Casio in the Vocational High School (SMK) had met the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. This proved that the humanist learning was important in the teaching and learning activities.
