Abstract

Character education is education based on values. Following up on ongoing character education the government issued Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2017 concerning Strengthening Character Education which aims to harmonize, deepen, expand and integrate various character education programs that are already underway. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of character education in order to support the PPK movement in Malang Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the implementation process. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, located at SD Muhammadiyah 9 Kota Malang, with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PPK policies in schools is not much different from the character education programs that have previously been implemented. The school further strengthens character education that has been running by adding various habitual planting programs, adding hours of character habituation activities, adding to student learning activities and intensifying various programs that have been running at school. Schools implement the PPK movement according to the Ministry of Education and Culture's reference on three basis approaches. Implementation of PPK policy itself in the process there are several factors that both support and inhibit factors. Other supporting factors are in the form of full support given by all school parties and parents of students, while the inhibiting factors faced by the school are none other than from the students themselves and from the parents of the students.
