Abstract

The presence of macrofauna and mesofauna will help the decomposition of organic substances that fertilize the soil. The organic material in the form of leaf litter in soil will generate decomposition. The decomposition process starts from the process of destruction or fragmentation or mechanical breakdown of the physical structure of litter that may be carried out by soil animals such as macrofauna and mesofauna into smaller particles by biting, chewing and slurring. This study aims to know the correlation between the diversity of macrofauna and mesofauna with the decomposition rate of leaf litter in Petik Jeruk Agro Tourism. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research. This research was conducted for 28 days (7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th days) with barllease funnel method and hand sorting. Data analysis techniques used in this study were regression test analysis. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between the diversity of macrofauna and mesofauna with the decomposition rate of leaf litter, and the diversity of macrofauna and mesofauna gave 99.8% effecr on the decomposition rate of leaf litter. The types of soil macrofauna found consisted of 5 classes with 7 ordo, 7 family and 7 genus. The genus found were Scolopendra, Ophonus, Blatta, Rabidosa, Narceus, Lumbricus, and Camponotus with the highest diversity index on the 14th day such as 1,87. While the types of mesofauna found were consisting of 3 classes with 4 ordo, 5 family and 6 genus. The genus found were Tacys, Staphylinini, Euborelia, Macroheles, Paranura, Vitronura, the highest index is 1,74 on the 14th day. The highest value of the highest decomposition rate is on 14th day with value 2,83% / day. The higher the diversity index, the higher the decomposition rate.
