Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of education will be continue to do conventionally and innovatively. Biology learning is a learning activity, making students do thinking by inculcating different concepts with teaching materials. Improving the quality of education should be supported by various parties, namely from educators, learners, and government where in this case is the Ministry of Education. This condition enables a wide range of educational leaders, teachers, principals, lecturers, and MGMP special teams of Malang City to activate Lesson Study-based learning, with the aim of improving the quality of education and familiarizing students to undertake the whole learning process in which the essence of Lesson Study. The problem of this research are (1) how to thinking creative process of 8th grade MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang on the excretion system material and (2) How the level of understanding of 8th grade students on teaching materials MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Related to the definition that this study aims to (1) Describe the creative learning process of class VIII students on learning materials based on Lesson Study lesson in MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang and (2) Describe the level of understanding of grade VIII students in the material of excretion system through Lesson Study based at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative. The qualitative analysis technique used in this research refers to Miles and Huberman (1984) analysis model in Sugiyono (2009) done in three components: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed the creative thinking process of students of grade VIII B MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang on Lesson Study-based learning material excretion system looks more trained and stimulated. Students can think creatively solving problems and problems presented visible from student activity data based on video documentation and student response when learning activity cycle 1 and cycle 2 take place. The level of creative thinking of grade VIII B students is increased from Lesson Study based on cycle 1 to cycle 2 seen from the quality of the answers given.
