Abstract

Weed is a disturbing organism in the cultivation of sugarcane. Weed causes a decrease quantity of sugarcane products due to competition between sugar cane and weed. Generally, farmer uses herbicides, but the continuous using has a negative impact on the environment. Alternative weed controls environmental friendly by using pintoi bean plants (Arachis pintoi). The purpose of this study to know the effect of spacing on pintoi beans (Arachis pintoi) on weed control in sugarcane plants and treatments that has best influence used as a source of learning biology. The study was divided into 3 phases, phase I research was the calculation of the number of weed and the weed density, phase II was weighing wet weight and dry weed weight, phase III was the utilization of research results as a source of learning biology. The type of research phase I and II was True Experiment Research in form of The Posttest Only Control Group Design 1 factor. The research designs I and II used non factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD). The spacing of Arachis pintoi plants was 10 cm cm x 10 cm, 10 cm x 20 cm, 10 cm x 30 cm, 20 cm x 10 cm, and 20 cm x 20 cm. Then, the data analysis technique used was One Way Anova and 5% duncan test. The results showed that there was an effect of spacing on pintoi beans (Arachis pintoi) on weed control in sugarcane. Arachis pintoi in a spacing 10 cm x 10 cm has the lowest wet weight and dry weight with an average of around 170.25 gr and 56.25 gr. Weed species have the largest amount and density, namely Cyperus rotundus. Furthermore, biology-learning resources can utilize the results of this study.
