Abstract

Political Party strategy to gain mass support is a part of party development in whole (whether internal or external) which practiced in political party. Strategy which has done by political party aimed to reach certain purpose as stated by party’s vision and mission by using tactic, effort, or duty by using party structure, so that the work program run as the people wished. Research method was descriptive qualitative through personal approach into political party. Research subject was held according to the structure related with party’s strategy and data collection through interview, observation, and documentation. Analysis used qualitative to describe the data. From the research and data analysis there could be found that political party strategy in gaining mass support at Unity Development Party (PPP) Malang City 2007-2008 focused on program actualization, service to the people and empowered the party cadres in every structure. It could be seen from various program which has done by PPP Malang City so that people felt sympathy, trust, and felt that the party worth promises. PPP Malang City always try to develop the party from internal or external so that the party would give better change for the people through party’s program or authority in General Election. But the most important is how it could be done by the Board of PPP Malang City by doing succession so that the next generation would fight in the line
