Abstract

Self disclosure to youtube users is self-disclosure of personal information by telling all activities, emotional outbursts in the form of videos. The presence of YouTube as one of the social media makes many audiences use it as a place to show their existence in the outside world by expressing themselves no exception to the content creators. This is the background of researchers to find out how self-disclosure of Malang Creators members that occur on YouTube social media. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research types. Determination of research subjects using purposive sampling technique and obtained 5 subjects who are members of the Malang Creators community. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. This research uses Sandra Petronio's theory of Communication Privacy Management (CPM) which explains that in disclosing oneself to others, someone is based on several motivations. The results of the study show that the self-disclosure of Malang Creators members have different characteristics, can be distinguished by the depth of relationships, beliefs and backgrounds between subjects. Self disclosure conducted by the subject on youtube social media apparently does not provide a sense of comfort to be open about some personal matters or to pour out his heart to be known by others. The subjects also prefer to upload positive things that are useful for themselves and for other users such as media for entertainment, sharing information, and sharing experiences or daily activities on youtube social media.
