Abstract

Tulungrejo Village is the largest apple-producing village in the Batu city located in Bumiaji District, Batu City with a large area of 80,701 Km2. The majority of the livelihoods of the residents of Tulungrejo Village are farmers with a percentage of 90% and 10% others, of which 90% are divided into 60% apple farmers and 30% vegetable farmers. The productivity of apples in the village of Tulungrejo is increasingly shrinking due to the decline in soil quality due to the use of pesticides and other chemicals. The purpose of this study is to find out what factors significantly influence the reluctance of adoption of innovation in organic apple farming systems and knowing the causes of apple farmers are reluctant to implement organic farming systems. The research sample was determined by the stratified random sampling method which was taken through the sampling calculation formula. Data collection research was conducted through a closed questionnaire approach with a Likert scale measurement method to answer the reluctance of apple farmers to implement organic farming systems, then to support the validation of existing data, an interview is conducted. Analysis of the data used is in the form of Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results of this study show the influence of income and farming experience on the reluctance of organic apple farming systems. The cause of apple farmers is reluctant to implement organic farming systems due to farmers' fear of reduced income earned so they cannot meet their family's needs.
