Abstract

Life in the era of globalization supported by economic, social, cultural, political, technological, and information technology factors today gives birth to many social and cultural phenomena, one of which is the phenomenon of premarital sexual behavior among students. The purpose of this study is, first, to describe and understand the process of premarital sexual behavior, Second, to describe and understand the pattern of premarital sexual behavior interaction, and Third, to understand the meaning of premarital sexual behavior for female students at universities in Malang. This research uses the basis of Ira L. Reiss theory, about the theory of sexuality change and the theory of love wheel. The approach of this research is qualitative and the type used is type of phenomenology. Methods of data collection using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis is using phenomenology analysis model. This study was conducted on female students on several campuses in Malang. The results of this study conclude: first, premarital sexual relations among students in general do not always go through the stages as L. Reiss's theory finds about "the wheel of love". Some of the stages to go to premarital sex are traversed but not as Reiss intended. Although in the campus environment begins with dating, but it is only as an entrance only. An important goal to be achieved is to have sex or premarital sex. In the next time, against other couples (not students) do not need to go through dating. Premarital sexual behavior becomes a habit and biological need and also to get financially. This is what Rose and Melati do. However, there are some female students without going through the process. She had premarital sexual intercourse because it started to feel curious and gradually became a habit and biological needs. Secondly, in general, the behavior of dating between female students and students continues on premarital sexual intercourse and the act is done repeatedly. The act is done on the basis of awareness to get pleasure and enjoyment. Generally when they have broken up with their girlfriends, premarital sexual needs are channeled / done with others by transactional form. Third, a veiled student realizes that premarital sexual conduct both to students and others is great but it is against her religious beliefs. It would be more sinful to be professional in that regard. Because of that condition then every sexual intercourse their pre-married there are feelings of fear, guilt, worries, and regret after doing it. But regret is difficult to stop the act. Fourth, based on the results of data analysis obtained, this study found a new theory related to premarital sexual behavior that is named by researchers as a "pyramid of sexuality", a development of existing theories, especially the “wheel theory of love" found by Ira L. Reiss which is used for the basis of this research.
