Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate whether or not telling story taken from Webtoon improves students’ speaking achievement. The researcer tried to presents Webtoon as a media to teach storytelling. Webtoon is the digital online comic platform for every people to enjoy various comics for free on the web or mobile. This research used a Quasi-experimental research design. The samples of this research are tenth grade students of SMAN 7 Malang. The samples of subjects are 68 students of tenth grade students. In the experimental research, there were two different classes and divided into experimental and control class. The experimental class was given a treatment with Webtoon while the control class was taught by using method based on the teacher. The data of this research were analyzed by using independence sample t-test computation. The result found that Sig. (2-tailed) was 0,000. Because 0,000 < 0,05 there was significance between experimental and control class. Hence, H0 (Null hypothesis was rejected and H1 (Alternative hypothesis) was accepted. It means that storytelling taken from Webtoon improves the students’ speaking achievement.
