Abstract
Background : One of the most popular contraceptive in Indonesia is Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate. Weight gain is one of side effect that is often complained by DMPA users. Objective : The purpose of this research was to identify correlation between the use of DMPA with increase of BMI DMPA users. Method and Sample: The design in this research was analytic observational with cross sectional method which analyzed with paired sample ttest . Sample in this research were 96 mothers who became DMPA users in Kertasari Banyuwangi Public Health Center Period January 2010. Result : 30 users (31.2%) that is the most DMPA users was at the age 2630 years old. 37 users (38.5%) that is the most of DMPA users during 12 years. 65 users (67.7%) had increased of BMI, while 31 users (32.3%) had not increase of BMI. Result of paired sample ttest was (p) value 0.000 that means there was significant correlation between the use of DMPA with increase of BMI DMPA users. Conclusion : There was significant correlation between the use of DMPA with increase of BMI DMPA users.
