Abstract
Background: Ankle sprain is an injury to the lateral side ligament. Most of these injuries occur as a result of inversion trauma with the feet located in some degree of plantar flexion and involving damage to the lateral ankle. If you do not have good muscle flexibility, an athlete will be susceptible to sprain or injury. Flexibility is the ability of the joints to be able to perform movements to all directions optimally. Inadequate muscle flexibility ability can lead to poor mastery of techniques and ultimately the performance displayed will be low. Aim: To analyze the correlation between flexibility of limb and risk of sprain ankle at F1 Club Taekwondo Malang. Methods: The design of the study used Cross Sectional Study with 45 respondents in F1 Club Taekwondo Malang taken with Quota Sampling method. The data was collected by two methods, namely questionnaires to know the history of ankle sprain, and static test to measure ability of flexibility of limb. Result: The result of Chi-Square test on flexibility of limbs associated with risk of ankle sprain in this study obtained significantly smaller values than alpha 5% (0.00 <0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between flexibility of the limb with the risk of ankle sprain at F1 Club Taekwondo Malang and it can be concluded that women have a better degre of flexibility than men.
