Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the students’ learning styles in English subject. This study was done based on the phenomenon of the students’ characteristic variety. The best-known learning styles theory is stated by David Kolb in 1984 (in Saul, 2013). He believed that learning styles appear because of our environment, genetics and experience. This research is a descriptive quatitative research. The subject was the students at Tenth Language Class in SMA Negeri 1 Turen. The instruments that used to collect the data were questionnaire and interview. From the research that had been conducted, the researcher found six kinds of learning styles. Those were visual, aural, verbal, physical, social and solitary. There was one student who was categorized as the visual learner, two students were categorized as the aural learners, one student was categorized as a verbal learner, six students were categorized as the physical learners, twelve students were categorized as the social learners and five students were categorized as the solitary learners. The researcher also found that there were two students who have multiple learning styles. One student was categorized as the verbal-physical learning style and another one was visual-solitary learning style.
